Emergency Services Deserts

Overview

This activity is for Delib demonstration purposes only.

Parts of regional and rural NSW gained recent media attention for being 'emergency services deserts.' An 'emergency service desert' is a local government area or other zone where residents do not have ready access to services like:

  • Emergency rooms
  • Trauma care
  • Maternity hospitals; and
  • Ambulances.

The Health Organisation is conducting this survey to guage how residents in rural and remote NSW use emergency services in their cities.

This digital activity asks you to report on an incident or injury that you have sustained in the last 12 months which you have needed urgent medical care for. If a child in your care has been to an emergency room in the area, feel free to report on their behalf here.

Why your views matter

If you live in Bateman's Bay, Nowra or Forbes, we want to hear from you in this activity.

If your area is not one of our three key focuses in this activity, but you have attended an emergency room as a visitor, please use this tool.

If you want to report an issue in a different area, feel free to subscribe to our mailing list to be notified when other rural and regional studies are being held.

The outcome of this activity will inform the Health Organisation's ministerial brief, which will impact on how our 2023 state infrastructure budget is allocated.
